How to get from Port Authority Terminal to Grand Central via NYC subway?

Best answer:
From the Port Authority Bus Terminal, enter the subway and and follow the directional signs to the 42nd Street Shuttle, which is the black line on the subway map. Take the Shuttle eastbound from Times Square to Grand Central.

Once at Grand Central, exit the subway in the terminal.

The fare on the subway is $ 2.25 and the trip take about 2 and a half minutes.

It makes one additional stop between 42nd st/Port authority subway stop and Grand central but it is nearer to where you are likely to get on the train in the mazelike-42 st /times sq station.I would even recommend the walk. It will take maybe an extra ten minutes over the subway but you will get to see a little bit of the city. Walk straight down 42d street and you will pass times Square, Bryant Park where the main branch of the Library is. You will be able to see many iconic new york structures like the Empire State Building, The Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, The Met Life building, the old New York Central building behind it as well as some lesser known luminaries as the Lincoln Building and the American Radiator building.

The walk is about a mile or so.
