Entry: "Friday 17th September - CT Cape Of Good Hope Woke up early to do our Cape Peninsula tour, we were on the minibus by 08.45 and heading to our first stop which was a place called Hout Bay. Hout Bay is a small fishing village but the harbour also houses several boats that do trips to Duiker Island, which has been colonised by Cape fur seals. The seals were really cramped together on the island with them basically being on top of one another, they make a lot of noise as well as smell a fair bit. The boat trip lasted close to an hour and as soon as we were on land again, we were on the minibus and on our way. We were on our way to Boulders to see the penguin colony but as we were passing one of the bays, the driver noticed as lot of cars pulled over and people looking out into the bay, we pulled over and did the same and realised the were there looking at southern right whales which had swam into the bay. The whales were about 20metres from the shore and there must have been at least six of them, they stayed near the surface of the water most of the time and occasionally flapping a fin out of the water.
